Sam has the fondest and happiest memories connected to a very simple and delicious snack: Homemade Party Mix (aka Chex Mix). He connects the smell, taste and crunch to holidays, family time, coming home from school on a special Friday and really to his own mom and nana.
I absolutely love this special tradition snack that we have started to instill in our own children. It’s the perfect simple recipe for kids to help with, talk about measuring and counting, and they can use their hands to stir the cereal together! I don’t know about you, but I cant think of a better Father’s Day treat than butter, seasoned salt, and Worcestershire mixed and cooked onto peanuts and crunchy Chex pieces!
Note: this isn't necessarily a "healthy" snack
This is the special “Huebner Party Mix” recipe. Full disclosure: it’s a huge batch, lots of butter, lots of Worcestershire, and super addicting. Also, it’s basically the Chex mix recipe on the back of the box but with a couple changes. If y’all make it this weekend, I’d love to hear what you think!
Huebner Party Mix Ingredients:
3 cups Corn Chex™ cereal
3 cups Rice Chex™ cereal
3 cups Wheat Chex™ cereal
1 cup Cheerios™ cereal
1 cup cocktail peanuts
1 cup pretzels
6 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
