Hi, I’m Emily—I design and develop products for Parker Baby Co., and today I want to share the story behind one of my favorites: The Croissant.

The idea for The Croissant came to me during my fourth postpartum journey. I was lying in bed with my newborn, thinking back on all the different things I’d bought over the years to feel more comfortable—both during pregnancy and after birth. And I thought to myself:

“There has to be a way to design something that changes with us as we change.”

That moment became the inspiration behind The Croissant—a pillow that can adapt to your body, your needs, and the many stages of motherhood.

A Pillow That Changes With You

What makes The Croissant so special is its adaptable shape. It starts in a more traditional form, like many maternity pillows—but because of the seaming and the buckwheat hull fill, it can mold around your body in all kinds of ways.

You can fold it to double the height, shift the fill to one side for a flatter surface, or lean into the more supportive side if you need something firmer. It gives you the flexibility to adjust based on how your body feels that day (or that moment).

The Buckwheat Hull Difference

The Croissant is filled with natural buckwheat hulls—a fill that’s non-toxic, breathable, and incredibly supportive. When you’re pregnant, that really matters. You know that everything you touch touches your baby, too.

Buckwheat hulls are naturally firm, but they still move and mold with your body. They have a cup-like shape that lets air flow through the pillow, so it’s temperature regulating, too. When you're pregnant and feeling hot or sweaty—especially at night—that airflow makes a big difference.

Designed to Stay in Place

The pillow does have a bit of weight to it because of the buckwheat fill, but that’s actually a benefit. It stays put—no sliding or shifting in the night, which I always found frustrating with other pillows.

To make it easy to move around, we added a small loop tab so you can throw it over your shoulder or arm and carry it to wherever you want to curl up—your bed, your rocking chair, or the couch.

Care Instructions

You don’t necessarily need a cover for The Croissant, but I definitely recommend using one so you can care for it like a regular pillow. The pillow itself shouldn’t go in the washing machine, but with the removable cover, you can just slip it off, wash, and keep everything fresh and clean.
